Mini Core Aeration
Next week, weather permitting, we will be performing a small task on greens that we call "mini core" aeration. Memorial Day is Monday so we have some time blocked out Tuesday and Wednesday for us to do this task. Recovery time is almost zero, so do not be alarmed by the word "aeration". The earlier spring job involved deep tines and lots of sand. This task involves small diameter (less than 1/4") holes about an inch deep. We just have one aerator so it takes us most of the day to get half the course done. Tee times for those days have been blocked off to allow early golf to play the same nine twice and then shortly after noon all play will have both nines available. We'll flip to the back nine on Wednesday and repeat the process.
Having said all that, the forecast calls for more rain early next week. If we don't think we can get the entire course done, then we won't start as we have no good windows of time available to finish. In that event, we will make the necessary adjustments to the tee sheet or utilize the time for other needs that can be done in wet weather. Stay tuned for details as we know more about the weather.
