Pressure Cooker

Extreme temperatures are back and things remain incredibly dry.  Turf of every variety (we have it all) is in need of a break.  We look forward to September as a time when we can begin our efforts to recover from summer, but for now we are still playing defense.  We had another run in on Labor Day with incoming power to the irrigation pump station.  Any grass near a tree line is almost completely dormant at best.  Turf in high traffic areas near paths is begging for mercy.  Even fairways have plenty of extremely hot areas where soils and irrigation coverage are poor.  We are losing more water daily through evaporation than we could ever replace with irrigation.  We also have some wet areas developing where irrigation zones are overlapping too much.  It's a mess in general and we are just trying to steer our way through it until we get to fall.

Even the Rappahannock is dry
