Power Struggles

Beginning Friday afternoon during the peak of the heat, our irrigation system stopped working.  When the incoming voltage is imbalanced among the three phases, the system shuts down to avoid damage to the motors.  This imbalance is more pronounced in times of extreme load on the grid.  REC is working to help us figure out how to solve this.  In the meantime we are struggling to beat the heat and recent high winds.  Babysitting the pump station for the past 48 hours I've been able to find times when the incoming voltage was acceptable to operate.  However, the window of time for that has been too small for us to irrigate everything.  I gave up at 10PM last night, but was able to get pumps reset at 4:15 AM this morning.  We were able to pump some water for greens and tees before play and Ryan is manually watering dry areas in fairways and roughs around play.  Hopefully the break in heat will allow us to keep the pumps online.  For the time being, we've asked for carts to remain on the path to avoid any extra wear on wilted turf.  Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.  Summer is never easy on a golf course.
