Day 1 Update

Monday wasn't a win for all the things we planned on, but it was a great day and Tuesday will be even better.   As per usual this year....weather did not cooperate.  It's now more comical than frustrating.

AERATION...Rains starting before sunrise continued until about 10:30 making it impossible to get started with aeration as planned.  We need dry grass and sun in order to get the sand into the holes and avoid smearing everything into a big mess.  As the rain stopped we were able to get the back nine greens verticut which will save us a step Tuesday morning when we plan to try again with the aeration.

CART PATH REPAIR...The rains did not stall the demo work that began on hole 4 and will continue back to the beginning of hole 3.  The arsenal of equipment and manpower started around 9:00 after we made the first tour of the job with the Chris and Matt from Flatline Contractors.  Coordinating the staging of the demoed concrete and working with FLCA staff to address some traffic related concerns was the first order of business.  Then the machines started rolling towards 4 tee.  We have 115 sections to remove on holes 3 and 4 and about half of that was removed today.  The concrete will start arriving Tuesday at 7:30.  More demo will get going in the afternoon and the process will repeat.

Why this is happening

The pile at 5:30PM...it'll grow until 7 PM

Forms are in place on all that was removed.  New concrete goes in tomorrow.

Lots of big machines involved

While the concrete work was happening we got some work done on the back nine greens.  We'll topdress and aerate those greens tomorrow.

Verticutting greens once the rains stopped.  Will aerate same greens tomorrow.

This helps with getting the sand into the turf canopy which
helps dilute some of the excess organic matter near the surface
