Transition Time

A week ago the course was saturated from the nasty month of February.  While conditions have improved dramatically, it's still very soft from all the freezing and thawing that occurred.  Zoysia is just beginning to show signs of life as well.  While I know just about everyone would prefer to cut out the walking to and from the path, patience will go a long way towards having a good course to play this year.  Allowing the ground to firm up and the zoysia to make a comeback is very important.  We'll make the switch to 90 Degrees sometime soon when we feel like we can do it without longterm problems.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.

We started mowing the bentgrass last week.  Tees were mowed once and greens were mowed twice.  Neither are really growing yet, but we wanted to get some of the frost bitten leaf tips trimmed off.  It looks like another blast of cold air is coming, but we'll be off and running soon.

Roughs, like your lawns, are mostly Fescue and will start to pop out  soon.  Mowers will probably get a workout in the next 2 weeks.

The zoysia will go through a transition over the next 6-8 weeks.  It will start to turn green and probably get knocked back with frost a few times along the way.  Slowly it will turn completely green and we'll mow sometime in April.

This will not "buff" out soon.  In order to mow this at .5" soon, we need it to be much smoother.
