Zoysia Green Up

Longer days and rising temperatures have helped the zoysia come to life.  It's got a ways to go, but at least it's bouncing back.  Bermuda, on the other hand, is not on the same pace.  As you may know from previous updates, we have a growing population of bermuda grass in our fairways.  This is an undesirable grass/weed for us and we'd like to get rid of it.  It's possible to do, but to date has been a cost prohibitive task.  As the zoysia greens up it is clear to see where the bermuda exists and some of it doesn't look so good.  It's possible that the winter was too harsh for some of this unwanted bermuda.  If so, that would be good and bad.  Good because we don't want the bermuda, but bad because we'll have to buy sod.

Bermuda is not greening up like the Zoysia.

Meyer Zoysia is very cold tolerant and has been a super grass for us.  The problem is it's hard to find.  It is a hybrid variety so seeding is not an option.  Local sod farms either don't have it or aren't maintaining it to a standard that would suit for fairway repairs.  It's a wait and see game for now.
