Fast Start to 2026
We are off to a fast start in 2026. Thanks to some unseasonably mild weather our team has been able to make a lot of progress in these first two weeks. There are some projects underway and a lot of projects ready to start as soon as we get the final bids together. We will be doing some projects on our own, getting outside help for a few, and working together with contractors on others. There is a lot going on and we are hopeful that we don't lose much time to winter weather.
Mild weather has made golf much more popular than it typically is in January. For this reason we've had to stay focused on "routine" course prep like painting penalty areas, mowing or rolling greens, and raking bunkers. Those tasks disappear most Januarys which lets us focus 100% on project work. This year we are splitting our time between course prep and project work. That's perfectly ok as the alternative could easily be a foot of snow like last year. In that case there is no golf and no project work.
Dead tree removals continue with stump grinding to follow this spring. Irrigation repairs continue as well as some long range planning in that area. General course clean up around the edges and in/around native areas, wetland edges, pond banks, etc...
Here are some snapshots of what's been happening...
Too dry in the fall for overseeding the target greens so we decided to paint them. Should have done it a month ago, but weather wasn't cooperating.
Irrigation repairs on the practice tee
Some concrete work and new mat installation are coming soon.
Bridges continue to be a high priority. This one on #2 and the one on #16 will be resurfaced soon. This will create some temporary disruption to play, but I think everyone understands the need.
When the weather and ground conditions are good, we've been able to get some good work done for play.
