Thursday AM Course Update

Frozen ground and cold nights continue to slow down the progress for playing golf.  As of Wednesday afternoon the following greens were still a block of ice covered in snow...Practice Green, 3,4,7,8,13,14, and 15.  Several others had portions of snow/ice cover.  Holes where the greens were clear still had standing or "casual water" on top of frozen ground.  Last night dipped into the 20s again which further delays thawing.  With tonight and tomorrow forecasted at 100% chance of rain up to 3/4", things are likely to be underwater.  The rain may speed up the snow/ice melt, but the ground is still frozen to a significant depth.  Yesterday we worked to create some channels in the snow for water to flow off the surface.  Unfortunately, some greens are shaped like bowls and do not offer any surface runoff.  We will evaluate things again on Saturday morning to see what impact tomorrow's rain has.  Hopefully we will have better news then.

In other news....
  • We had outside help with several dangerous trees along property lines yesterday
  • Our team has removed 50 dead trees this week on holes 1, 2, 5, and 8
  • Ernie completed the bridge on 4 and is well underway on hole 17.  We had some structural repairs on this bridge as well as some modifications to the width on each end.  We should be done with this bridge next Tuesday.

14 Wednesday PM.  Trying to give melting snow and upcoming rain a place to go.  It won't
soak in since the ground is frozen.
