September 6 Update

This week we finally replaced the dead PM pump which should allow us to sleep a little better and take some pressure off the two main pumps.  It's complicated to explain, but just know that without the PM pump functioning this summer, we've been juggling a lot of extra stress and work.  Thankfully we made it through without any disasters.

The tees at 8 were stripped, had drainage installed, got a new 4" layer of soil, and were then re-sodded.  The first draft of those tees failed due to poor drainage/soil.  A big wreck on I-64 caused a long delay in sod arriving yesterday, but the contractors worked into the dark to get it done.  We learned two big lessons to be used on the rest of the course if/when we can swing a badly needed tee renovation....1) Do not attempt to do a project like this in February or March and 2) verify with a lab that the soil is suitable before you use 5 truckloads of it.  Time and money were two big pressure points from the outset and an attempt to save both backfired.  It ultimately didn't cost us any more money to fix the mess, but most would agree that doing the job at the right time for a little more money would be preferred over the pain of what we just went through.  We will not commit to an opening date for the new tees just yet.  We are hoping for warm weather for the sod's sake, in which case we may open them up in 2-3 weeks.  That's a best case scenario so please don't hold me to it.  Thanks again for your patience and understanding!
