Update on Hole 8 Improvements

Week 2 is almost complete and we've ONLY lost 4 days to rain or rain related hold ups.  We started with a 10 day forecast that looked promising.  February is a risky month to do this sort of thing, but our options are limited.  It's Friday evening and rain is about to start falling again.  Sod farms will be challenged to harvest just like we are challenged to prep ground when it's muddy.  Hopefully we catch a break as all that's left is sod at the tees essentially.

Despite the mud, this week we've managed to...

  • complete the re-grading at the right side of the green
  • repaired old drainage and installed new drainage on the right side of the green
  • added irrigation to the green surround
  • installed all the zoysia right of the green
  • installed most of the fescue outside that zoysia
  • installed the irrigation at the tees
We got soaked in the rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, but worked through it as best we could.  Supply chain issues and/or inventory/shipping challenges remain a huge headache.  We are grateful that our friends at Kinloch Golf Club and Hermitage Country Club came through for us with some of the supplies that we've been waiting on from the distributor.  That allowed us to get some of the irrigation installed before most of the rain fell Wednesday.  I'm typing this on Friday at 5:30 PM as I wait on 1 remaining irrigation head to arrive so I can backfill the last hole before tonight's rain.  UPS says Friday by 7PM.  No project is complete without some drama.
