Course Update

Cart Traffic

Thank you for your patience with cart traffic over the past 2 weeks as we try to give our new seed a fighting chance.  We have a long way to go in some places, but will let carts roam free starting tomorrow (Tuesday Oct. 31) barring rain tonight.  As you might imagine..."cart path only" is not fun for us either.  If you are not pressed for time, are looking to get a few steps in, want to help the new grass survive, etc.... you are still more than welcome to keep your cart on the path.

Greens

We completed 10 greens today with the soil reliever.  This is a deep tine aerator that helps alleviate compaction below the rootzone.  We used a smaller diameter tine (3/8") to minimize disruption at the surface.  It takes us close to an hour per green and we have to replace the tines after 5 greens.  For this reason we expect to get caught by play tomorrow somewhere around hole 14 at which point we'll change tines and finish up Wednesday.

Leaves

In the past two days the beautiful fall colors have moved to the ground.  Wind today made clean up impossible and the forecast is for more of the same the next few days.  The good news is that might make for a more efficient clean up process.  The bad news is you will certainly lose a few golf balls this week.  I encourage anyone that owns a battery powered blower to bring it with them.  We are severely outmatched by trees at the moment.

The bank on 16 green went from clean to this in about an hour

Trees

As retaliation for all the falling leaves, we removed a few trees today.  Actually we have some concrete starting to heave near the tees at 16 as well as a dead oak leaning over a neighbor's fence.  Adam's Tree helps us with trees that have to be removed from the top down so, with no outing on the books, today was a great day for them to help us.  We will have fewer leaves on 16 from now on and the concrete path has been saved.
