Congratulations Ryan!

After 6 years of dedicated service and recent completion of the Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management school, Ryan Funkhouser has been promoted from Assistant Superintendent to Superintendent.  His value to us has been huge and he's earned this opportunity.  Ryan will take over the day to day role of planning and scheduling our work, and be more involved in the office side of our department.  This will open a slot for us to add another career minded staff person in the role of Assistant.  This may involve another promotion from within or hiring someone new.  We hope to identify this person no later than early 2024.  My title will change to Director of Agronomy and I will continue to have a hands on role, but be more involved in long range planning and project work.  These changes will be seamless to most, but are needed in order to keep up with the near doubling of rounds played (increased wear and workload), the need for multiple large scale renovation projects (30 year old course), and the desire to keep our best people on board.  I'm not much on titles, but I know that Ryan deserves a name without the word "assistant" in it.  His role is so much more than anyone would imagine and he deserves to get more credit for the final product.  Please join me in thanking him for his service and congratulating him on his new role!
