USGA Visit
This week we welcomed a visit from Dr. Jordan Booth, director, USGA Course Consulting Service. Jordan is based out of Pinehurst and came at our request to evaluate the course and offer insight on how we can navigate our way through a number of course maintenance challenges. As the course ages it costs more and more to maintain. Sort of like a car....or a human. Jordan's feedback will help us allocate our resources in a way that provides you with the best course possible.
Jordan, Ryan and I spent a few hours Tuesday morning looking at, and chatting about, greens. We sampled two greens for physical property analysis and discussed options and methods for managing organic matter and the ever growing poa annua population. We looked at bunkers, tees, and a handful of other areas before gathering for lunch with several Board members, a few from the Green Committee, Bret, Ryan, and myself. After an informal lunch with some Q and A time, we headed up to the practice facility and had some more discussion on all things course maintenance related.
We could probably allocate a week to cover all the topics, but I believe the day spent with Jordan will prove to be time well spent. I'll share the results of the visit when they arrive.
