Greens aeration was delayed by the nasty weather yesterday but we were able to get 4 holes of deep tine aeration done before it got too wet. Today we wrapped up the putting green, holes 10-18, and 1 green. Tomorrow we'll get to holes 2-9 and the chipping green. The process involves the following steps....
- Deep Tine Aeration with 1/2" x 9" solid tine
- Core aeration with 1/2" hollow tine to a depth of 3"
- Shoveling up all the plugs
- Topdressing with sand
- Brushing multiple times
- Blowing off excess sand
- Rolling (daily for several days)
Cart path repairs were also delayed a day by the rains. Today they broke ground on hole 4 behind the green and removed sections on holes 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Tomorrow they will demo broken sections on holes 12, 18, and probably 9, 1, or 2. In all we hope to complete just over 200 sections of concrete. Chris Mitchell, Matt Laydon, and their staff have been fantastic these past two years and we are very fortunate to have them back. What started out as a project I was dreading turned into a very peaceful and painless process thanks to the skill and hard work of these guys.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we make these much needed cart path repairs and complete greens aeration. Progress can be disruptive I know.
