Aeration Update

Day one went better than we expected given the poor forecast.  Light rain and heavy cloud cover kept us from getting topdressing applied, but we still made a big dent in the process.  The contractor was able to complete the deep tine process on all 20 greens before 1 PM.  Our guys were able to complete the core aeration step on the front nine and both practice greens by 3 PM.  We tried to topdress hole 1, but it didn't dry up enough to brush until close to 2.  For that reason we decided to punt for today.

We expect to have all the aeration done by mid day tomorrow and hopefully will avoid the afternoon storms in the forecast.  We will try to get the topdressing completed tomorrow and Wednesday.  The forecast for Thursday is 100% rain for now, so the likelihood of getting the greens exactly how we'd like them is low.  Typically we'd use Wednesday and Thursday to add more sand where needed, brush and/or blow off any excess sand, roll, etc... We'll keep doing the best we can with the conditions we have.

The staff, mostly students that are home from school, did fantastic.  We actually had more help than a typical spring aeration due to the virus.  Keeping them away from each other is a little tricky, but they all have their own tools and carts.  Most of these guys are just here for this project.  We hope to get them back soon if things ease up.
