Golf Course Status...Jan 23

Frigid temperatures have turned the saturated ground into a block of ice.  We expect to open the course tomorrow (Wednesday Jan. 23rd) as long as the greens remain frozen.  Frost on the turf will have to thaw, but frozen ground isn't a deal breaker for play.

However, based on the forecast, there is a good chance that the course may close again following the rain expected for Thursday.  Warmer temperatures on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday will likely allow for some thaw on the surface of the greens.  They will re-freeze Thursday night and begin thawing again on Friday.  The greens will be frozen somewhere below the surface and saturated above that line.  This scenario is not good for golf, especially on greens that are already weak from a wet fall.  Roots are extremely shallow due to the fall weather and missing our scheduled aeration.  It would be wise to err on the side of caution if conditions are not safe for golf.  This is all based on a forecast so stay tuned for more updates as we know more.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
