Update and Flashback

We have been nursing our way through the challenge of August and it's helping so far.  Slightly increasing (.110" to .125") the mowing heights on greens, regular venting with small solid tines, focused moisture management, and a host of other tricks seem to be keeping us in good position to have a strong fall season.  Next week looks like another heater (highs in the mid 90s / lows in the mid 70s) so we are not ready play offense just yet.  We have several more big events on the calendar before we aerate (September 17,18) and we hope to flip the switch as soon as that job is done.

We've been giving the 8th green a break (except for tournament/event rounds) for the past two weeks and it has enjoyed the relief.  We know that we have more drainage work and tree removal work to do in order to help this green stay strong through future summers.  The 40 trees removed last year helped, but more must go.  The drainage issue is going to require some investigating in order to identify the problem.  We plan to do some digging this fall once we find out where the issue is.

An update from almost exactly two years ago....FLASHBACK TO 2016 touches on the issues we were having with the 8th green then.  My goal is to stop having to write this article every August.

  1. I just bought one last week. Great club. Tried it for 18 holes. I like the way it feels and sounds, but I am thinking to have it re-shafted though. But I am a bit too picky, so have a go at it best golf wedges
