2018 Maintenance Schedule
The link below is a very basic outline of our plans for 2018. It includes a few extras like optimum growth potential for both the fairways and the cool season turf (everything else), as well as the "major" tournaments for the year. Weather is the kicker as always and things can change in a hurry.
Aeration Summary for 2018:
Greens Aeration
April 31 - May 3
The course will be closed for our work on April 31 and May 1. Nine holes will be closed on the 2nd and 3rd. This will allow us to complete the process and get it cleaned up properly. We will be removing 5/8" cores and backfilling the holes with sand. It takes us two full days to complete the first few steps and two more to get the finishing touches done.
Deep Tine Greens Aeration
June 26
The course will be open, but we may have some delayed starting times or slightly altered plan for golf. This is a job we normally do in conjunction with our spring aeration. However, we had to shift our spring dates to accomodate the golf schedule and the contractor that does this task for us was not available on our new spring date. This is a solid tine with no mess. The holes are much deeper than we can get with our machines and the greens should appreciate this prior to the onset of oppressive heat and humidity.
Greens Aeration
September 17 - 20
This will likely be similar to the spring aeration although we will wait until late summer to commit to a strategy. Greens are putting well, but showing signs of trouble underneath. Our aeration strategy will be designed to address this for the benefit of the long term health of our greens.
We will address tees and fairways in and around play when weather allows.
