The First Cut

After two months of extreme cold and generally bad weather we finally mowed greens for the first time this year on Sunday morning.  We had to skip 7,8,14, and 15 as they were still frozen in many areas.  The last time we were able to safely mow the greens was December 20.  In a typical winter we mow greens a few times each month.  Anytime the greens are not frozen or too soft to walk on we'll mow them.  This smooths them out and keeps the ball rolling true for the die hard golfers that play year round.  Hopefully the mowing frequency can pick up soon and the greens will putt well for the remainder of the winter.
