Perfect Storm

Fertilizer + Warm Temperatures + Rain = Really fast growing grass

We missed aeration today due to the wet weather this morning.  It's impossible to effectively clean up aeration plugs and put down topdressing sand when it's raining, but that didn't stop us from making progress.  We put on our rain gear and tried to work through some of the exploding turf growth.  We will shift focus back to aerating and subsequently get behind again with the mowing and grooming of other areas on the course.  This is the toughest week of the year because we still have just the bare minimum winter staff and the grass is jumping out of the ground while we stop for two days to aerate greens.  I apologize if it looks like we gave up on things, but the perfect storm of circumstances happens every year during spring aeration time.  We'll catch up soon and hopefully have continued good growing weather for a speedy aeration recovery.
