What's Happening
Despite the nasty weather we've been very productive on the course. The following is a summary of some of our efforts....
- installing 12 new hose connections on tee boxes
- This will make hand watering much easier
- removing bermuda grass from the bentgrass collars
- This is a big help in keeping greens consistent. We used bentgrass from the spare tee on 6 to make the repairs
- removing the bunker on the left side of 17
- This will save maintenance and time without changing the way the hole plays. We will be taking the soil from the spare tee on 6 to fill in the bunker. Sod will be installed over the spare tee on 6 and the bunker on 17.
- installing curbing at the first tee
- This will help us keep carts from parking on the tee slope and thus prevent goosegrass from taking over. We will put new sod down around the tees on this hole.
- removing many dead trees
- This is never ending
- installing valves in irrigation lines at all bridges
- This will save us lots of money when winterizing
- removing of winter weeds from the zoysia
- This involves spraying round up on about 40 acres
- installing a 5000 sq. ft. vegetable garden
- This is located between the ninth hole and the practice facility. It will provide fresh vegetables to the Harbor Club during the summer and fall.
